G. Greene met his wife Jean when they were both employed at the same company in the 1970's. The attraction was mutual and immediate, but since the author had absolutely no game at all, it took Jean a while to convince her husband-to-be that she was genuinely interested. Their official first date was a hike up New Hampshire's Mount Monadnock and they never parted from that day forward, marrying a few years after that fateful outing.
Jean, a nationally ranked athlete, endured and overcame asthma, living with it from her early twenties on, but that wasn't what ended her life. The cause of her death was never diagnosed despite the intensive effrorts of many experts and hospitals. Her passing has been entirely devastating. Poems In A Time of Grief is part of the process of learning to live with the unlivable and think about the unthinkable.
